Talen Energy is seeking an experienced Engineer with working knowledge in combined cycle power plants and F and H-Class combustion turbines for their fossil generation central engineering group. The role involves supporting fleet-wide engineering initiatives and serving as a subject matter expert for multiple power plants, focusing on equipment condition monitoring, technical support, and maintenance planning.

Responsibilities

Participate as a member of the Power Users Group as well as OEM Users Groups for the Talen specific combustion turbines

Staying up to date with industry wide issues, corrective actions, and tracking open Technical Information Letters (TILs) from the OEM

Provide technical support and guidance to the fossil plants in areas of expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve equipment and system problems

Interface with management teams, project teams, and other disciplines within the engineering group to solve complex tasks

Support the plants with planning and implementation of maintenance outages

Focus on maintaining or improving equipment condition and performance, being cognizant of available techniques and practices

Identify and assist in resolution of emergent equipment issues

Coordinate with vendors as applicable, for related products and services

Prepare and maintain necessary technical documentation and operating and performance history records

Assist plant maintenance and operations with troubleshooting activities during planned or forced outage events

Assist in the work on smaller engineering projects or well-defined areas of larger projects

Use existing procedures to investigate, evaluate and assist in producing technically correct and cost-effective designs or recommendations that solve ongoing problems

Build relationships that will facilitate knowledge transfer, cross functional knowledge of related work groups, and ability to present work products effectively

Gather and correlate basic engineering data using well defined engineering procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems, and engineering studies

Assist in a variety of topics including developing innovative procedures, improved design recommendations or new or better equipment purchase recommendations

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, engineering technology, or other related science discipline from a college or university accredited by ABET, or recognized by ABET as substantially equivalent

Combined cycle plant and large gas turbine experience

Minimum 5 years' related engineering experience for Senior Engineer position

Minimum 10 years' experience, with recognized expertise in power plant engineering for Principal Engineer position

Preferred

A minimum of 5 years experience in combined cycle power generation engineering

A working knowledge with GE and/or Siemens F class and H class combustion turbines (both single and multi-shaft designs)

Experience working with other large rotating equipment (turbines, generators, fans, pumps)

Experience with predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis, thermography, and lubrication monitoring

Professional Engineer registration in Pennsylvania (for principal engineer position)
