Responsibilities

Lead and mentor engineering teams focused on API feature development and operational support

Define team goals, KPIs, and career development plans to foster growth and accountability

Drive a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across delivery and operations

Oversee design, development, and deployment of APIs aligned with enterprise architecture and business needs

Partner with solution architects to ensure APIs meet scalability, security, and performance standards

Champion best practices for API lifecycle management, including versioning, documentation, and deprecation strategies

Manage API operations teams to ensure high availability, reliability, and incident response

Implement monitoring, alerting, and automation strategies to optimize API performance and reduce downtime

Coordinate with infrastructure and security teams to maintain compliance and mitigate risks

Enforce API governance policies, including security protocols, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance

Collaborate with risk and compliance teams to address vulnerabilities and ensure adherence to standards

Act as a key liaison between engineering, product, and business stakeholders

Communicate technical strategies, delivery timelines, and operational metrics to leadership

Lead workshops and demos to showcase API capabilities and promote adoption across the organization

Required

A combined minimum of 11 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 4 years' engineering and/or architecture experience and 5 years' leadership experience including people management

Proven experience managing engineering teams delivering APIs and supporting operational environments

Strong understanding of API design principles, RESTful standards, and tools like Swagger/OpenAPI

Expertise in API management solutions (Azure APIM)

Expertise in Java/Springboot development and delivery

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred

Expertise in cloud platforms (Azure preferred)

Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps practices
