Equipment Technician (Wastewater Operations)

Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently operates heavy equipment and power tools to perform a series of skilled/manual activities and tasks and/or to transport materials, personnel, and supplies to complete work assignments
Operates heavy equipment such as (Dump Trucks, Front End Loader, Boom Truck, Truck mounted Boom Crane Lowboy, Mini-Excavator, Excavator Backhoe, Flatbed, Vac-Con and Bucket Truck) to transport equipment and/ or materials to and from work sites
Operates power tools, uses hand tools and performs a variety of skilled/manual tasks and activities, i.e. painting, infrastructure repairs, mowing, may assist with the cleaning and repair of sewer mains
Maintains, cleans, and services equipment, vehicles, tools, and facilities
Inspects vehicles for required supplies, materials, and equipment
Observe and follow safety procedures and precautions at the worksite
May investigate and respond to complaints
Prepares and maintains reports, forms, and records of assignments, service calls and/or maintenance and repairs of equipment and tools utilizing a work order system
May act as a lead on a crew and coordinate and monitor work assignments and personnel
Other duties as assigned, such as working at WWO Plants and/or lift stations
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED
Ability to read, write, add, subtract, and follow oral and/or basic written instructions
Specialized courses or training in the operation of construction equipment
Six months of experience performing manual and field work with power tools or equipment
Valid Texas driver's license
Compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving
May be required to have a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) based on the type of equipment assigned to operate
Preferred
Wastewater equipment maintenance experience
Forklift experience
Backhoe experience
Crane truck experience
Eligible veteran status
