Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist
The Southeastern Power Administration is seeking an Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist to serve as a technical expert. This role involves providing cybersecurity support, ensuring operational continuity, and leading projects to develop and implement cybersecurity requirements.

Responsibilities
Provide in-depth and independent technical advice, guidance, expertise, and recommendations to DOE senior leaders and acts as a technical lead over federal and contractor IT professionals providing cybersecurity support and services
Ensure continuity in operations and the rigorous application of advanced cybersecurity principles, methods and practices to ensure optimal effectiveness in detecting, evaluating and preventing threats to DOE networks and systems
Serve as a leader or member on various standing information technology management boards, committees and working groups, as well as ad-hoc groups convened by DOE offices
Plan and coordinate the development and implementation of cybersecurity requirements, including serving as the lead for projects, tasks, working groups, and daily activities with responsibility for analyzing, managing or performing work necessary to plan, design, develop, test, implement, integrate, maintain, or modify IT systems to meet cybersecurity standards
Prepare and provide briefings to leadership on assigned programs and projects; review, prepare and coordinate correspondence, reports, memoranda, directives, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to assigned technical areas; and furnish information in response to inquiries regarding DOE policy and guidance on cybersecurity
Develop and maintain a high level of awareness and understanding of cybersecurity and security concerns and issues, such as processing environmental and architecture, trends, and technical problems

Required
Must be a U.S. Citizen or National

May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period
Position is subject to random drug testing
You must pass pre-employment drug testing
The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Q-level clearance which includes the ability to successfully pass an initial drug test and continuing random drug testing
The position may require regular and recurring overtime
Occasional travel of up to 5-10% annually is required, with overnight travel possible during all or part of that time
The duties of this position may require the incumbent to be placed in a 24/7 on call status on a rotational basis
This position is designated as Emergency Essential
For all 2210 positions, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year (52-weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level [GS-12] in the Federal service
Specialized experience for this position is defined as having ALL of the following: Applying Linux based cyber solutions and tools such as Tenable Nessus Security center, Nessus Manager, Splunk, Splunk ES, Forescout eyesight and/or others; AND Applying Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Risk Management Framework (RMF) or other cyber risk management frameworks, Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Center for Internet Security Benchmarks (CIS), or North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Information Protection (CIP) standards to collect and produce evidence in support of audits and accreditations
