Radiology Intern

North Mississippi Health Services is seeking a Radiology Intern who will assist in patient care tasks under the supervision of a Registered Staff Technician/Sonographer. The intern will engage in patient interactions, perform diagnostic procedures, and ensure high-quality care is delivered to patients.

Responsibilities

Performs high quality/cost-effective diagnostic procedures under the supervision of a Registered Staff Tech or Registered Sonographer
Assists Physicians and medical staff during procedures as requested/required
Provides excellent customer service in an accurate and efficient manner
Communicates effectively with patients, family members, Physicians, other medical staff, and NMMC staff members
Attends required in-services, annual review, and educational programs
Knowledgeable of procedures, positions, supplies, and equipment used in Radiological examinations
Stays abreast of changes in Radiology
Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines
Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues
All other duties as assigned

Required

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent or equivalent
Successful completion of 3 semesters of didactic and clinical competency requirements from an accredited Radiologic Technology program
Successful completion of 6 months of training from an accredited ultrasound program
Registered or registry eligible by the American Radiologic Technologists within 6 months of accepting position (ARRT)
Licensed or license eligible by the State of Mississippi within 6 months of accepting position (MRT)
American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification
American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification within 2 years of accepting sonography position at NMHS
Good written and verbal communication
Interaction with a patient population of all ages ranging from neonates to geriatrics
Serves patient population categories of infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics
Perform Radiological procedures under the direction of a Registered Staff Tech
Perform with a high level of professional and ethical conduct at all times
Detailed oriented
Must have extensive contact with: Physicians, co-workers, patients/family members
Must have good written and verbal communication skills
Must reflect a positive, caring attitude toward clients, patients, staff and the public we serve
Ability to work well under pressure while providing a high level of care
