Engineering Technician IV
Astrion is seeking an Engineering Technician IV to support the METTS III contract at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. The role involves providing technical support in engineering areas, conducting tests, and assisting in design modifications while working in specialized and potentially hazardous environments.

Responsibilities
Be able to provide semi-professional technical support for engineers working in such areas as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement
Develop or review designs by extracting and analyzing a variety of engineering data, applying conventional engineering practices to develop, prepare, or recommend schematics, designs, specifications, electrical drawings and parts lists
Conduct complex tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of critical test equipment and test procedures, preparing and operating equipment, recording data, measuring and recording problems of significant complexity that sometimes require resolution at a higher level, and analyzes data and prepares test reports
Apply methods outlined by others to limited segments of research and development projects, constructing experimental or prototype models to meet engineering requirements; conducts tests or experiments and redesigns as necessary and recording and evaluating data and reports findings
Assist in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information
Qualification
Required
High school diploma with at least two (2) years of directly related experience to maintaining and operating industrial pressure systems - Active/Current support of METTS III program
Some practical knowledge of science or engineering
Some positions may require a practical knowledge of mathematics or computer science
Ability to provide semi-professional technical support for engineers working in such areas as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement
Ability to develop or review designs by extracting and analyzing a variety of engineering data
Ability to conduct complex tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of critical test equipment and test procedures
Ability to apply methods outlined by others to limited segments of research and development projects
Ability to assist in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials
Ability to operate in unique, 'one of a kind,' and/or hazardous research and test facilities
Ability to work in indoor and outdoor test areas, test stands, laboratories, chambers, machine shops, cold and hot weather environments, heights, and confined spaces
Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs, bend, crouch, crawl, climb stairs/ladders, and pull cables/wires
Must use proper PPE for all tasks
Preferred
Knowledge in pressure system operations at a NASA Facility is strongly desired
