SMX Services & Consulting, Inc. is seeking an experienced Manager to lead their System Development and Database Administration teams. This role is crucial for ensuring the stability, security, efficiency, and innovation of application development and data management practices, while managing a team to deliver high-performance software and database solutions.

Responsibilities

Lead and guide the System Development and Database Administration teams to deliver high-performance, quality software and database solutions in a teamwork-based culture

Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing systems

Manage the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of our database infrastructure, ensuring data integrity, security, and availability

Administer and optimize database performance, including query optimization, indexing, and capacity planning

Develop and enforce coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes for software development

Collaborate with business analysts to translate business requirements into technical specifications and solutions

Manage system development projects, from design through implementation, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget

Manage, mentor, and develop a team of programmers and business systems analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment

Develop and enforce data governance policies and procedures

Required

Strong experience in managing complex IT teams and infrastructure within highly dynamic environments

Proven track record of successfully leading software development and database administration projects

Technical knowledge base in: Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall), Database technologies (e.g., SQL Server, DB2, MySQL), Data warehousing and business intelligence solutions, Programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#)

In-depth knowledge of database design, administration, and performance tuning

Demonstrated leadership abilities with a history of successful management of diverse teams, including programmers and business systems analysts

Strong verbal and written communication skills, emotional intelligence, and adaptability in an agile, evolving company culture

Ability to effectively operate in highly dynamic environments with flexible thinking

Must be able to manage change well and lead teams through relentless transformation

Fully bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly required

Preferred

Relevant certifications in software development, database administration, or cloud computing

History of working in high-growth or highly dynamic companies

Experience with DevOps practices and tools

Experience with data governance and compliance regulations

Able to lead change and lead continuous improvement initiatives
