Responsibilities

Conduct financial and macro analysis (incorporating financial system activity, economic research and monetary policy trends) necessary to develop views on US government bonds and similar instruments (including swaps, futures, options and other derivatives that can express views on the direction of US interest rates)
Make investment recommendations to portfolio managers and manage a portfolio of securities drawn from your sector coverage
Maintain contact with relevant industry participants and policy makers
Independently manage an investment portfolio. Portfolio construction process will focus on top-down investment ideas
Focus on generating superior long-term investment results for our shareholders
Works to surpass goals, seizing opportunities to push the envelope and deliver value for clients
Has the ability to successfully operate as part of a team as well as the confidence to think independently, respectfully challenge their colleagues, and develop conviction in their theses

Required

Track record of working effectively in a team environment. Candidates will be comfortable collaborating with a range of internal stakeholders
3-10 years of relevant experience. Candidates will have had at least 3 years' experience in fixed income in a strategist, trading, risk management, or research role
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidates will be comfortable presenting research in a variety of different ways, including through thematic reports, weekly briefings and oral presentations
Excellent academic qualifications. Candidates will have a strong academic background, with a bachelor's degree and ideally, a relevant post-graduate qualification (eg, MBA, CFA, MS in Finance/Economics)
Open, dynamic and intellectually curious, with an ability to make decisions in a market environment of uncertainly and ambiguity
Well-organized self-starter with the communication skills to work within the firm's demanding and highly focused environment
Clear commitment to Capital's culture, values and approach. Shares Capital's passion for its clients' success and demonstrates a highly collegial nature
Willingness to travel to engage with investment colleagues and external stakeholders
