Nelson Mullins, an AmLaw 60 law firm, is seeking an experienced Benefits Administrator with expertise in managing complex benefits and retirement plans. The ideal candidate will oversee various benefit-related functions while collaborating with senior leadership and auditors to ensure efficient and compliant operations.

Responsibilities

Overseeing the administration of partner-level benefits, retirement plans (such as 401(k) and cash balance plans), and executive compensation plans
Managing the day-to-day operations of trusts, RABi Trusts, stock and bond investments, as well as other retirement plan-related assets
Collaborating with auditors, specifically RSM, particularly in managing the 5500 audit process for retirement plans
Coordinating the Benefits Committee, ensuring that the committee’s activities align with business goals and comply with relevant regulations
Working closely with actuaries and trust departments to ensure the proper management and reporting of defined benefits, deferred compensation, and related programs
Providing detailed analysis and reporting on benefit plan performance and trends, using advanced Excel skills to present data effectively
Regularly interfacing with the C-suite and senior leadership, providing updates and offering strategic recommendations related to benefits programs and retirement plan management

Required

Proven experience in administering and managing complex retirement and benefits plans, including both defined contribution plans (such as 401(k)) and defined benefit plans (such as cash balance plans)
Significant knowledge of the 5500 filing and audit process, particularly in collaboration with auditors like RSM
Strong background in executive-level deferred compensation plans and experience working with actuaries and trust departments, especially within the banking industry
Demonstrated ability to engage with senior leadership, including C-suite executives, and communicate complex benefits and retirement plan topics clearly and effectively
Advanced Excel skills, along with experience using data analytics to manage and report on benefit programs
Solid understanding of business acumen and the ability to align benefits strategies with the firm's overall objectives
Experience managing benefits programs and coordinating Benefits Committees
Strong ability to work independently while also collaborating with others

Preferred

Experience in the banking or financial services industry, particularly with trust departments
Knowledge of RABi Trusts and investments within retirement plans
Experience with regulatory compliance in benefits and retirement plans
