Responsibilities

Familiarity and experience with AASHTO/AWS D1.5 / AASHTO/AWS D1.1

Perform third party DOT structural steel fabrication quality assurance inspection and reporting

Utilize applicable ASTM , AASHTO construction and project specific specifications

Read and interpret shop drawings, specifications and project special provisions to verify compliance to material quality

Ability to work closely with other fabrication, construction and quality personnel in a courteous and professional manner

Perform Visual (VT) Testing inspection per applicable code requirements

Familiarity with inspecting and reporting high strength (Grade 325) bolts testing (rotational capacity/preinstallation verification) and reporting

Familiarity with geometric in-process dimensional verification including lay-down and progressive assembly to ensure fitment during erection

Proficiency in using the following: Laptop computer, cell (smart) phone, scanner and printer

Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Word, internet, report writing, adding photographs and other files within reports and as attachments

Ability to develop and maintain client relations

American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)-will be verified through www.aws.org

3 years minimum project experience with structural steel fabrication

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Good Driving Record (driver license will be verified)

Pass pre-hire drug screening/testing

Preferred

Previous bridge or similar fabrication inspection (QC or QA) experience

NDT Level I or Level II certification, UT, MT, PT or Radiographic Film Interpretation

ICC Structural Bolting certification or other experience inspecting high strength bolt testing and installation

AMPP coating certification or other experience inspecting application of coatings on structural steel
