Responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize, manufacturing processes, mechanical components, tooling, fixtures, and equipment for injection molding and assembly operations
Support new product introductions and equipment validation activities, including IQ/OQ/PQ documentation when required
Provide technical support for troubleshooting mechanical, tooling, or automation issues on the production floor
Conduct root cause analysis and lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve mechanical or process failures
Develop and maintain accurate mechanical drawings, models, and BOMs using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
Lead or contribute to continuous improvement projects focused on reducing downtime, improving cycle time, and enhancing quality
Collaborate with tooling engineers and external vendors to support mold maintenance, repairs, and modifications
Participate in Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) projects, including equipment specification, vendor selection, and installation oversight
Ensure designs and processes comply with Westfall Technik standards, ISO 13485, and FDA 21 CFR 820 requirements
Mentor or guide junior engineers or technicians as needed on project-related tasks or best practices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field required
4–7 years of engineering experience in plastics manufacturing, injection molding, or medical device production REQUIRED
Proficiency in CAD design (SolidWorks preferred) and familiarity with GD&T principles
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
Experience applying lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods
Knowledge of tooling, automation, and mechanical system integration
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
