Responsibilities

Overseeing the programmatic Conduct of Office within J-Division that includes Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations
Maintaining the program elements of the DARHT Safety Assessment Document (SAD) and Accelerator Safety Envelope (ASE)
Providing programmatic input to the NNSS Documented Safety Analysis (DSA)
Assist J-Division with broad strategic planning, multi-program work planning, programmatic risk management, and work execution
Work closely with Weapons Facility Operations, Weapons & Institutional Quality, Engineering Services, and other divisions as needed
Providing leadership and integration, supporting efforts across the Weapons Physics Directorate (ALDX)

Required

Expert-level knowledge and experience in leadership and management of technical personnel and programs, including success at line management or facility operations
Distinguished technical record of accomplishments and/or demonstrated technical expertise in two or more of the following: dynamic experiments, accelerator operations, weapons engineering, weapon response, dynamically loaded confinement vessels, quality engineering, and/or weapons physics
Proven cross-organizational collaboration, teamwork and consensus building demonstrated by working across organizational and program boundaries
Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills evidenced through recent management assignments, internal and external interactions, briefings, presentations, and documentation
Demonstrated and proven ability to lead, motivate and focus personnel (scientists, engineers, technicians, analysts, managers, etc.) and work with a diverse personnel base
Demonstrated commitment to Laboratory goals in safety, security, environment, diversity, recruiting, and employee development
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 12 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation

Preferred

Active Q clearance
Demonstrated experience with hydrodynamic and/or subcritical experiments fielding and execution
Expert knowledge of explosives safety and LANL policies applicable to R&D work
Demonstrated experience in hazardous & radioactive waste regulations, environmental compliance, and work with beryllium
Knowledge of LANL inventory systems and processes for classified parts, radioactive materials, precious metals, chemicals, and high explosives
In depth knowledge of the weapons program structure, reporting systems, financial management systems, and other applicable business systems
