As the HR Manager/Director, you will play a key role in optimizing employee experiences, ensuring HR compliance, and supporting a dynamic team in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

Help design and own a structured onboarding program to create a memorable, effective, and positive onboarding experience to ensure a new hire's success
Manage new hire data entry, I-9 verifications, and onboarding
Maintain and update HRIS systems throughout the employee lifecycle
Coordinate orientation, paperwork, and systems access for new hires
Ensure legal postings and notices are current and distributed to all employees
Support development, documentation, and implementation of human resources policies and procedures
Maintain up-to-date knowledge and enforcement of state and federal labor laws
Support immigration and visa processes
Maintain accurate and compliant records of employee benefits and training
Support the administration of benefits programs including 401(k), health insurance, workers’ compensation, and COBRA
Support compensation and rewards programs, including bonuses and equity processing
Audit employee files and manage electronic recordkeeping
Create and maintain folders for employees, interns, and contractors
Collaborate with leadership to support retention strategies
Handle offboarding tasks including exit interviews and system deactivation
Assist with accurate domestic and global payroll processing for exempt and nonexempt employees
Help define payroll workflows for hourly/nonexempt roles

Required

Experience in a fast-paced startup environment that is rapidly growing
Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or a related field
10-15 years of HR experience with a focus on employee relations, compliance, and engagement
Experience conducting impartial and effective workplace investigations
Deep understanding of federal and California labor laws
Proficiency with Google Workspace and HRIS platforms, including PEOs (e.g., TriNet, ADP)
Discretion and ability to handle confidential information
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong project management and hands-on execution abilities
Collaborative mindset and ability to work with a diverse, global team

Preferred

Event planning experience (for team-building, culture events, onboarding, etc.)
Experience supporting equity plans or working closely with finance/legal on stock options
Familiarity and experience with DARPA and ITAR
Passion for robotics
