Responsibilities

Install replacement parts on marine engines using drawings, measuring instruments, hand tools, and power tools
Monitor installment of major items of equipment such as, steering system malfunctions, reverse gears, reduction gears in seagoing craft, and security watercraft
Oversee repairs to maintain operation of machines and equipment
Repair failures in navigation devices, electrical and fuel systems in watercraft and/or marine boats
Monitor repair and installment of mechanical equipment aboard watercrafts and related harbor
Develop quality assessment plans to work processes involved with the rebuild or repair of high-powered marine engines
Evaluate technical data pertaining to the repair or rebuild of marine engines to identify characteristics that may affect the quality of the finished product
Serve as Contracting Officer Representative for one or more major equipment repair contracts

Required

Ability to do the work of an Marine Machinery Mechanic without more than normal supervision
Disassembly and repair to marine equipment and machinery
Determining the nature and extent of repairs necessary and make needed repairs by replacing, reworking, or refinishing worn or damaged parts and components of marine engines and components
Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)
Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc
Knowledge of Materials
Technical Practices (Theoretical, precise, artistic)
Trouble Shooting
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance
This position requires a pre-employment Financial Disclosure Statement OGE Form 450 and annually thereafter
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles
Incumbent must be able to swim
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315
