Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is seeking a Tax Controversy Associate to join their growing Tax Controversy Team in the Business Tax practice group. The role involves handling various tax-related matters, including IRS dispute resolution and tax litigation, while working closely with clients and contributing to a team environment.

Responsibilities
Join the growing Tax Controversy Team in the Business Tax practice group
Handle a variety of tax-related matters across a broad spectrum of industries
Demonstrate interest and/or experience in federal tax controversy practice
Manage multiple matters and communicate effectively with clients
Contribute as a member of the firm’s nationally recognized Tax & ERISA team
Qualification
Required
Tax attorney with at least 1-5 years of experience (class of 2024 – class of 2020)
Demonstrated interest and/or experience in federal tax controversy practice
Experience with IRS administrative dispute resolution
Experience with IRS examinations
Experience with IRS Appeals programs
Experience with tax litigation
Experience and/or an interest in renewable energy tax credits
Strong academic background
Outstanding research skills
Outstanding drafting skills
Outstanding analytical skills
Excellent writing ability
Detail-oriented
Demonstrate leadership and initiative
Ability to manage multiple matters
Ability to communicate effectively with clients
Interest in a client-centered practice
Ability to be a contributing member within a team of lawyers
Preferred
Prior experience at the Internal Revenue Service or Department of Justice's Tax Division
Judicial clerkship
LL.M. in Taxation
District of Columbia bar membership
