Responsibilities
Designing structural components of bridges, box culverts, retaining walls and transportation related structures
Developing details of bridge components for contract drawings
Calculating quantities and developing construction cost estimates
Review of shop drawings
Assisting bridge inspections and preparation of inspection reports
Performing load ratings
Participating in project meetings with clients
Coordination with team members to meet project quality standards and milestone deadlines
Representing GFT at industry and professional events
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
3+ years of bridge engineering and/or inspection required
Minimum of 3 years of progressive design experience in bridge and structural engineering required
Good technical and communication skills required
Understanding of structural design principles for steel, reinforced, and/or prestressed concrete required
Knowledge of and experience using MicroStation and Microsoft Office required
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills along with strong organization and time management skills required
Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment required
Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members required
Preferred
Master's Degree in Civil Engineering preferred
Experience using structural design and analysis software such as LARS (load ratings), Merlin-DASH, Open Bridge Designer (LEAP Steel and Concrete), STAAD, and/or L-Pile preferred
Experience with various design codes such as AASHTO, ACI, AISC, NDS, etc. preferred
