Tester Design Engineer
Pantex Plant is a key player in national and global security, seeking a Tester Design Engineer who will be responsible for developing detailed design packages and providing engineering procurement and technical support. The role involves creating conceptual engineering deliverables, overseeing hardware and software design for testing apparatuses, and ensuring effective collaboration within an integrated project team.

Responsibilities
Developing high quality, detailed design packages
Providing engineering procurement and field technical support to implement those designs
Providing expertise for troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant systems
Preparation of conceptual engineering deliverables such as cost-estimating bills of material and man-hour estimates

Design criteria
Preparation of calculation and analyses
Construction specifications & drawings
Equipment specifications
Effectively and cooperatively work as a team member of an integrated project team
Provide input to system engineers and other plant customers
Perform walkdowns of existing plant facilities in order to generate design documents and provide field support to craft personnel
Tester Design support includes electrical hardware & software design of testing apparatuses

Database design/interface

Related software quality assurance documentation

Overseeing fabrication of hardware

Designing and developing software applications used to automate complex instrumentation systems
Perform calculations on and manipulate very large data sets

Create user friendly operator interfaces
Consolidate results in to legible reports
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science discipline with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA
OR Master's degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA
OR PhD in an engineering discipline with a minimum 3.5/4.0 cumulative GPA
There is a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement up to 4 years post-graduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript
Beyond four years from graduation, engineering experience will supersede GPA as a requirement for hire
In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1-year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative)
DOE O 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment
In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities (Ref. DOE O 426.2)
Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status
The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP)
If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709

Preferred
Demonstrated technical capabilities with PCB design tools such as Altium and Cadence
Experience working with NXP microcontrollers
Experience with safety critical circuity
Knowledgeable in hardware design
