Sanitation Supervisor
Northgate Market is a company focused on food safety and sanitation, and they are seeking a Sanitation Supervisor. The role involves maintaining food contact surfaces and executing sanitation standards while ensuring compliance with USDA and FDA regulations.

Responsibilities
Maintains Plant’s food contact surfaces and non-food contact surfaces in all areas & equipment in pristine and optimum conditions throughout the shift
Executes Company’s GMP program and strictly abides by its policies
Under the direction of Quality Assurance, executes the food safety & quality assurance programs of the plant
Under the direction & supervision of Sanitation Manager & QA, works with specialized vendors to develop, implement, and execute all sanitation standards operational procedures, (SSOP’S)
Assists Quality Assurance in the implementation and monitoring of all USDA pre-requisite requirements such as Listeria, allergens, and traceability
Assists Sanitation Manager in managing all cleaning-related chemicals in plant
Performs the correct dilution ratios of chemicals and trains and monitors that the Sanitarian team abides by them
Responsible to always wear appropriate safety gear while performing work duties and ensures that all personnel under his supervision wear it as well
Reports immediately any deviation or policy failure
Ensures that all equipment is properly and safely disassembled, clean, rinse & sanitize and reassemble back together in a proper and safe way, according to Safety & SSOP guidelines
Must have a basic understanding of USDA, FDA, and Health Department on-the-job demands
Responsible for the implementation and execution of all Sanitation Standard Operational Procedures, (SSOP’S)
Assists Quality Assurance in the implementation and execution of HACCP
Manages all cleaning-related chemicals, performs the correct dilution ratios, and trains all personnel in its use
Ensures that all chemicals are always locked and secured in a previously assigned place
Responsible for his safety and the safety of his direct report
Always executes the Lock-out / Tag out program
Ensures that they always wear the correct safety gear to perform the job and that all sanitation personnel wear it as well and reports any deviation of policy
Works under the direction of QA in executing correct pre-operational inspections and having the plant ready for USDA inspection in time
Works closely with Production Associates and QA in preventing potential cross-contamination situations
Maintain a safe work environment by properly implementing the IIPP (Injury Illness Prevention Programs)
Completes sanitation log records daily, as per QA directive
Works closely with Maintenance department to prevent water-related damage in processing equipment
Works closely with Quality Assurance department in the execution of the Pest Control program
Promote health and safety in the workplace
Maintains plant in optimum and pristine sanitation condition
Display good work ethic, resourcefulness, and organization
Reports immediately any malfunction issues and/or missing equipment parts as well as any damaged equipment while performing the daily tasks
Ensures that every associate works as previously assigned in the department’s weekly schedule
Ensures that all direct reports take the assigned breaks promptly as per Company’s policy
Leads by example in proper uniform and work gear
Trains all direct reports in proper filling of sanitation records, as per Quality Assurance guidelines
Trains all direct reports in the lock out / tag out program, as per Company’s policy
Trains direct reports in proper equipment prep prior to wash down
Manages water consumption in Plant
Performs the SSOP training manual in EACH piece of equipment and trains direct reports in its implementation and daily execution
Maintains peripherical areas of plant in acceptable sanitary conditions such as associate’s restrooms, locker rooms and break rooms
Maintains the trash and other peripheral areas outside the plant in proper sanitary conditions
Leads by example in maintaining an exceptional GMP program in his/her person, team, and workplace
Keeps chemical cage area always locked
Maintains a solid attendance record
Qualification
Required
Must have solid leadership skills
Must be HACCP Certified
Must have a basic food handler's certification
Basic knowledge on Food manufacturing, processing, and sanitation
Ability to understand and effectively communicate the daily pre-operational inspections and constant sanitation of plant
Must be able to work independently or in a team environment
Must be able to lead, delegate, monitor, and follow up
Must have effective communication and mentoring skills
Must have a very strong Customer service commitment
Able to resolve operational problems related to projects and minimize delays or unexpected cost increases
Proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with effective communication skills and ability to work in a high output environment
Ability to develop creative solutions to problems and challenges as they are identified and resolve them in a timely manner
Able to demonstrate attention to detail and follow through in all areas of responsibility
Ability to develop & coordinate project plans / projects and communicate changes and progress effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the department associates, peers, and Plant Management
Must be able to lift 30 Lbs. frequently and 40 Lbs. occasionally; stand, reach, climb, and lift frequently
Must be able to use calculator to perform general mathematical functions
Must be able work with others and coordinate cross-contamination prevention with co-workers
Must work with minimum or no supervision
Must have an excellent attendance record, reliable and flexible when seasonal work is occasionally required
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Spanish speaking a plus
