Area Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Makeready is a hospitality company seeking an Area Vice President of Sales & Marketing to lead the commercial strategy for their Columbus portfolio, including The Junto and The Merchant Building. This role requires a blend of strategic oversight and hands-on leadership to drive sales and marketing performance across various disciplines.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive sales and marketing strategies for The Junto and The Merchant Building, ensuring alignment with Makeready’s commercial goals
Lead the leisure sales strategy across both properties, targeting luxury and lifestyle travelers through key consortia, agencies, and brand partnerships
Drive revenue growth across leisure, group, and corporate segments while maintaining brand integrity and positioning
Collaborate with the Vice President of Commercial Strategy, Area Managing Director, and property leaders on annual business plans, budgets, and performance forecasts
Monitor market conditions, trends, and competitor activity to proactively adjust strategies that enhance market share and profitability
Cultivate strong partnerships with travel advisors, luxury consortia, credit card travel programs, and destination organizations to drive business and brand visibility
Oversee property-level sales teams, ensuring alignment on strategy, key account management, and revenue goals
Represent Makeready and the Columbus portfolio at trade shows, sales missions, and media events to elevate brand presence globally
Partner with the Revenue Management team to optimize business mix and rate strategy across properties
Lead all marketing, PR, and digital initiatives for the Columbus portfolio, ensuring consistency in storytelling and brand positioning
Partner with the Brand and Digital teams to develop integrated campaigns that highlight each property’s distinct personality and experience
Inspire, mentor, and develop high-performing sales and marketing teams across both properties
Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning across disciplines
Build a culture that celebrates individuality while delivering unified excellence across the Columbus market

Required

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality sales and marketing, with proven multi-property or regional oversight
Deep understanding of luxury and lifestyle segments, global travel trade, and integrated marketing strategies
Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and brand visibility through innovative, cross-channel initiatives
Exceptional communication, relationship management, and presentation skills
Ability to travel as required for business development and leadership engagements
