Deputy County Administrative Officer, Health and Human Services Agency
The County of San Diego is seeking an experienced and visionary executive to serve as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer overseeing the Health and Human Services Agency. This leader will guide a large organization through transformation, focusing on innovation and collaboration to enhance service delivery for millions of residents.
Responsibilities
Overseeing the Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA)
Leading one of the nation’s largest and most innovative health and human service organizations
Guiding more than 8,000 employees and a $3.5 billion budget through a period of change and transformation
Leading the HHSA’s strategic and operational direction
Advancing innovation, collaboration, and equity to strengthen service delivery and improve the quality of life for more than 3.3 million residents
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)
Working closely with the Board of Supervisors, other County leaders, and community partners
Shaping the future of San Diego County’s social safety net
Modernizing systems
Cultivating a culture of trust, accountability, and whole-community care
Qualification
Required
Experience in overseeing large health and human service organizations
Visionary leadership skills to guide a large workforce and budget
Ability to lead strategic and operational direction
Experience in advancing innovation, collaboration, and equity in service delivery
Strong communication skills to work closely with the Board of Supervisors and community partners
Ability to shape the future of social safety net systems
Experience in modernizing systems and cultivating a culture of trust and accountability
