Responsibilities

Collaborate with Government engineers to develop and maintain AECC architecture
Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for network deployment and sustainment
Utilize IaC for provisioning network foundations for customer enclaves as applications are hosted on AECC
Administer daily network operations, including patching and upgrading all network components
Monitor network health and utilization; escalate critical issues and resource needs to the AECC lead
Harden the network using commercial best practices and required government cybersecurity controls
Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for hosting platform network issues
Create and maintain documentation, including system diagrams, network topology, configurations, and SOPs
Provide on-call support for after-hours production incident triage and resolution
Recommend improvements for security, scalability, manageability, and performance across AECC network enclaves

Required

Senior-level network engineering experience (5+ years) implementing enterprise IT infrastructure, with expertise in VMware NSX design, deployment, and management
Proficient in LAN/WAN, routing, switching, network security, and core AECC components: NSX, Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco Routers, Nexus & Catalyst switches; familiar with VMware suite (vSAN, vSphere, ESXi, ARIA)
Skilled in troubleshooting complex VMware and network issues; strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, MPLS; experienced with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) and scripting (Python, PowerShell)
Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) capabilities, automation skills, and ability to troubleshoot across the full technology stack (network, storage, server, applications)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570.01-M IA Tech Level II certification
Must live within 50 miles of Radford, VA as this job requires in person work at least 3 days per week
Must hold and maintain an Active DoD Secret clearance

Preferred

Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) process
Hands-on experience with container platforms, orchestration, and Kubernetes principles (networking via CNI, storage via CSI); skilled in managing Kubernetes apps with Helm and maintaining container images
Experience with GitOps principles and tools (e.g., Argo CD, Flux) for automated deployments and configuration management
