Responsibilities

Is a leader and supervisor for Standard Work in all areas of Sterile Processing to properly handle instruments/equipment and provide safe patient care. Understands and references manufacturer’s instructions for use, as well as professional standards. Demonstrates ability to prioritize and facilitate a continuous workflow of instruments/equipment through the department
Maintains competency and functions as a Sterile Processing Technician according to operational needs of the department
Responsible for reporting and updating Sterile Processing Manager Software
Communicate and work collaboratively with other staff and leadership in the department, as well as staff and leaders from other units and entities. Represents the department and hospital in a professional, courteous manner
Responsible for hiring and evaluating of personnel in collaboration with Perioperative Nurse Manager and Nurse Director
Addresses behaviors requiring corrective action in collaboration with Nurse Manager, Nurse Director, and Human Resources
Recognizes positive performance of staff and promotes professional and collaborative work environment
Support a work environment that actively achieves/maintains a high‐functioning and engaged team. Demonstrate understanding and ability to escalate concerns as necessary
Attend and lead departmental in‐services, huddles, and meetings. Understand key quality measures and actively develop and participate in problem solving and performance improvement activities. Utilize lean management principles and actively work on the performance board
Act as a clinical resource for staff and participates in the orientation, education, and yearly competency process. Acts as coach and mentor for staff to promote utilization of standard work and best practice
Demonstrates effective leadership, fiscal responsibility, time management, flexibility, prioritization, and critical thinking skills in performance of duties
Demonstrates knowledge and maintains competency of standard work / key work processes
Applies principles of microbiology, disinfection, sterilization, and modes of disease transmission to promote an infection free environment
Oversees and is a subject matter expert in the departmental electronic instrument management system
Participates in establishing goals, activities to meet goals, and measurement for success in alliance with the overall organizational goals. Participates in interdisciplinary work teams to enhance flow and patient care outcomes
Demonstrates willingness to accept non‐routine work assignments as appropriate
Travel to other entities is sometimes required

Central sterile processing certification preferred. Must obtain certification within 18 months of hire to maintain employment
