Director for Information Services, Law Library

Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership in public services, including recommending policy changes and process improvements
Ensure quality of service delivery and adherence to best practices in Law Library access services, research and scholarly services, and research instruction
Lead research and instructional services for the Law Library to ensure the provision of extensive high-quality research support
Develop and promote innovative pedagogy and the appropriate integration of educational technology
Work closely with the Director of Legal Research and Writing and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to develop advanced and specialized legal research course offerings. Serve as research instruction liaison to faculty
Teach for-credit legal research courses and participate in first-year JD instruction
Participate in reference, faculty and clinic liaison services, and collection development
Keep abreast of trends and monitor developments in information technologies that impact access services, reference services, instruction, and information delivery
Participate in library planning committees and task forces and engage in law school, campus, regional, and national professional organizations, and collaborative activities, and is expected to be professionally active
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated experience delivering for-credit legal research instruction
Demonstrated knowledge of access services workflows and best practices, including circulation, resource sharing, and stacks management
Effective managerial, problem-solving, and project management skills
Familiarity and utility with new and emerging technologies
Superior communication and interpersonal skills
Dedication to professional librarian and staff development and to working with initiative to promote a collegial environment
Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school or equivalent accredited degree
J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
Eight or more years working in an academic law library, including research support, access services, and instructional services
Five years of progressively responsible experience leading teams and supervising professional librarians and staff
Preferred
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience, five of which should be in a supervisory leadership role in an academic law library, research library or similar institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience
