Responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate land purchase contracts, land finance documents, and other agreements related to the acquisition and/or development of raw land and single-family lots
Prepare documents for the formation of property owners associations and monitor the proper management and turnover of the associations
Draft, review, and negotiate Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CC&Rs), declarations, bylaws, and other documents related to subdivisions and housing projects
Review title commitments and prepare objection letters
Review and prepare professional services agreements and vendor contracts
Track compliance with consumer sales disclosure requirements
Work closely with in-house counsel, legal and other company staff, and company managers
Interact regularly with title companies and outside counsel
Qualification
Required
J.D. from an accredited law school
Licensed to practice law and admitted in good standing in Texas or another state where David Weekley Homes builds
A minimum of 7 years of real estate law experience, primarily focused on the transactional areas described above
Preferred
Prior experience in-house with a homebuilder or residential developer
