Structural Engineering Intern (STRIVE Program)

The Structural Engineering Intern will support the civil and structural engineering team with planning, analysis, design, and documentation of infrastructure and building projects, providing hands-on experience in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Support Senior Engineers on a variety of projects
Broad application of principles, theories and concepts in civil and/or structural engineering
Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
Contributes to a team environment
Assist with civil and structural design calculations for buildings, utilities, and infrastructure projects
Support grading, drainage, foundation, and structural system designs
Prepare drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD
Review plans for coordination with architectural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines
Assist with quantity take-offs and cost estimates
Conduct site visits, field observations, and data collection as needed
Help prepare technical reports, specifications, and design narratives
Participate in project meetings and internal design reviews
Perform additional engineering support tasks as assigned

Required

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Some experience with technical engineering software such as STAAD or ANSYS and AutoCAD
Candidate must have a firm grasp of engineering principles
Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA with at least 60 hours of coursework completed
Must be at least 18 years of age
Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills
Must be a self-starter, excel in time management, and work well under pressure
Candidates must be willing to travel for infrequent field assignments

Preferred

Exposure to AutoCAD drafting experience preferred
