Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is looking for a driven Aviation Propulsion Systems - Subject Matter Expert to provide support for the Army Futures Command. The role involves offering expert advice and technical guidance on engine structural analysis and mechanical components for U.S. Army helicopters, along with authoring technical recommendations and supporting government engineers throughout the engine acquisition program.

Responsibilities
Support government engineers with expert advice, analysis, research, and technical guidance on engine structural analysis and mechanical components for U.S. Army helicopters
Author technical recommendations regarding the airworthiness of engine components in response to field events, manufacturing defects, design changes, etc
Provide government engineers with recommendations on the requirements coverage, success criteria, and acceptability of the test plans and reports, risks or potential risks of the test plan and report, and corrective actions or improvements to the test plan and report
Support government engineers with Test witnessing, evaluation of test results, and post‐test inspections and recommendations regarding requirements coverage of tests and post‐test hardware condition and performance
Support government engineers with technical and project engineering support through all phases of an engine acquisition program
Maintain knowledge of relevant scientific principles, application methods/procedures, and integration of the same into engineering projects using systems, materials, electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering practices
Qualification
Required
15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience
The candidate should have documented experience in performing risk analysis, reliability analysis, and data reduction and analysis to evaluate engine and component performance, providing recommendations on the compliance of performance submittals with respect to applicable requirements and detailed studies to determine corrective actions, improvements or assist in setting appropriate life limits and inspection intervals on critical components to ensured continued flight safety
At least 15 years of documented engineering experience designing and developing, manufacturing, maintaining, or operating turbine engines and engine controls
Experience with failure analysis of mechanical components and systems
Experience with analyzing data from flight load surveys
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must
Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Security Clearance: Must possess a DoD Secret Security clearance
Preferred
Over 20 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; over 15 years relevant experience with a Master's degree in a related field; over 10 years relevant experience with a Ph.D. or Juris Doctorate in a related field
12 years or more of relevant experience in mechanical design and structural analysis of aerospace hardware
Working knowledge of DoD software programs including but not limited to the Product Data Reporting and Evaluation Program (PDREP), Joint Discrepancy Reporting System (JDRS), The Army Maintenance Management System-Aviation/Maintenance Consolidated Database System (TAMMS-A/MCDS), SRD Task Tracking System (TTS), and Aircraft/Engine Electronic Technical Manuals (ETMs)/Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs)
Experience with turboshaft engines such as T55-GA-714A, T700-GE-701D, YT706-GE-700, T901, and/or AE 1107C is a plus
Experience writing and reviewing AWIS, SSRAs, System Safety Management Plans, FMECA/FEMA, and Safety Design Requirements Definition
Working knowledge of thermal analysis, gas turbine engine thermodynamic and aerodynamic performance, and engine control systems
