Process Control Engineer - Knoxville
Vulcan Materials Company is the nation’s largest producer of construction aggregates and a major producer of aggregates-based construction materials. They are seeking a Process Control Engineer to provide process control design services, develop PLC and HMI programs, and assist in managing projects for construction materials facilities.

Responsibilities
Provide process control design services at all levels of detail, from conceptual design through final installation for all construction materials facilities, with increasing responsibility as experience is gained
Develop Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) programs to control aggregate facilities, assuming increasing responsibility as experience is gained
Assist the Corporate Network Services (CNS) Department in the installation and configuration of plant networks, wireless systems, and firewalls
Serve as the Corporation's representative to interface with and provide technical guidance to system integrators and construction contractors
Provide cost estimates and project schedules for capital and expense projects as needed, with increasing responsibility as experience is gained
Assist in supporting existing facilities and assisting in upgrading existing control systems
Assess needs and internal resources available to perform the required tasks and coordinate the use of outside contractors as necessary
Must gain knowledge of current methods, best practices, and code standards, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and NEMA relating to assigned work
Prepare purchase requisitions for process control equipment
Provide input to the creation and modification of Corporate Standards, Specifications, and Policies
Under the supervision of a PCE IV or higher, provide electrical cost estimates for proposed new facilities and plant modifications
Under the supervision of a PCE IV or higher, provide complete process control design for aggregate, asphalt, and ready-mix facilities
Provide technical supervision in formulating calculations, evaluations, feasibility studies, and optimum design criteria for plant electrical integrity, reliability, and endurance
Provide project management activities on projects working with internal personnel as well as outside contractors, developing schedules and goals to meet milestone requirements
Participate in the review of capital and expense projects pertaining to design correctness, feasibility, and cost for the sections of the project related to process control
Participate in the standardization of projects and databases for both engineering and estimating information
Maintain an awareness of technology trends in the electrical and instrumentation industry and the application thereof by competition and others
Analyze future plant control systems and apply new technology and original innovation to attain competitive superiority where possible
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
0 to 3 years of experience in the design and installation of heavy industrial control systems is desired, preferably in aggregates or related industries
Identifying electrical problems, troubleshooting, and field installation experience
Ability to understand basic software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and use a computer is required
Knowledge of industrial control systems, and computer, PLC, and HMI, programming
Preferred
Experience with using AutoCAD is desired but not required
Knowledge of Allen Bradley, GE, Wonderware, and Historian Software systems is desired but not required
Knowledge of SQL Server and other reporting software is a plus
Knowledge of computer networking is desired but not required
