Assistant Professor - Finance (Tenure Track - 9 month)

Ferris State University College of Business is seeking applicants for a Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Finance. The role involves teaching a wide range of undergraduate and graduate finance courses, engaging in scholarly activities, and mentoring students beyond traditional advising roles.

Responsibilities

Teach a broad spectrum of undergraduate and graduate finance classes
Courses may include Personal Finance, Financial Management, Financial Markets and Institutions, Investments, Portfolio Management, Derivatives, Real Estate Finance, Mathematics of Finance and other finance courses as needed
Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses or approved FSU sites
Candidates are expected to foster a meaningful learning experience for our students, should be student-oriented, advise, and integrate current technology into the learning environment
Engage in scholarly/professional activities and participate in department, college, and university committees
Participate in collaborative efforts to foster curricular efforts, participate in assessment of student learning, and further develop programmatic enhancement
Engage students outside the classroom, support and expand existing academic initiatives, and mentor students beyond a traditional academic advising role
Serve as an advisor for a student investment and wealth management club
Off-campus and online teaching may be required
Maintain records and conduct assessment, advising, and all other administrative features of the position in accordance with policies and procedures developed by the university, college, school, department, and/or program
Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives
Act as liaison between the program and professional organizations through active, individual involvement, and potentially as the program-appointed representative
Enthusiastically support student success through active involvement with individual students, student organizations, and student competitions, both within and outside of the classroom
Work with colleagues to develop new curricular initiatives
Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically
Faculty members may be required to teach off-campus or in an online environment

Required

PhD in finance from an accredited institution
ABD to be considered if it is completed before starting the position
A year of teaching experience in Finance or related field, or two years of business experience in Finance or related field
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate with other faculty and University administration to support the mission of Ferris State University
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated successful experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
