Reviewer for Cross Connection Unit- Civil Engineering Intern
The City of New York's Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for the Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations. The intern will perform reviews of engineering plans for Cross-Connection or Backflow Prevention Assembly installation, check compliance reports, and engage in studies related to water and sewer connections.

Responsibilities
Reviews Applications/Plans/ Exemptions for Cross-Connection/ Backflow Prevention (BFP) Assembly installation on Water line submitted by Professional Engineer or Registered Architect
Checks Initial/Annual Test reports for compliance with approved Cross-Connection plans within a duly specified time frame and maintain detailed & accurate records of test reports in the database
Participates in meeting with the Applicant/Design Engineer regarding BFP Application/Plan requirements. Coordinate professionally with the unit/applicants to assist the unit’s function
Develop detailed knowledge of all application and permit procedures related to water connections and BFP installations. Prepares oral and written reports as required
Engages in studies, investigation or examinations related to the engineering functions or activities of the department
Engage in other reviews and studies regulations associated with water and sewer connections
Qualification
Required
A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college. A degree in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology is not acceptable
