Start in 2026 SummerVistra Corp. is a Fortune 500 integrated retail electricity and power generation company. They are seeking a Summer 2026 Intern to join their Power Optimization Center team, focusing on Nuclear Power Generation systems and operations. This internship offers students the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges in the energy sector while gaining hands-on experience with nuclear power generation monitoring and optimization.

Responsibilities
Assist in analyzing nuclear plant operational data to identify trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities
Support the development of diagnostic tools and models for nuclear system monitoring
Collaborate with engineers to evaluate performance metrics, safety margins, and reliability indicators
Contribute to projects that enhance workflow automation and visualization systems for nuclear operations
Document findings and present project outcomes to the POC team and leadership
Comply with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
Possess the ability to work independently and in a fast paced environment
All other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Familiarity with nuclear power systems, reactor operations, or energy generation fundamentals
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with interest in data-driven decision-making
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Excellent communication skills for presenting technical concepts clearly
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. Students sponsored through Optical Practical Training (OPT) or Curricular Practical Training (CPT) are NOT eligible for this internship
Official transcripts must be received from your school prior to start date
Must be in good academic standing with your school
Preferred
Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar) preferred
