Responsibilities

Play a supportive role in the development and implementation of multi-year global category plans and/or strategies that drive supplier consolidation and leverage spend across the organization while increasing spend under contract
Collaborate with key stakeholders, team members, and leaders respective to category
Follow structured project management methods and principles to execute complex, long-term category management and strategic sourcing initiatives
Support populating and continuous tracking of Category Performance framework and defining metrics related to it
Help prepare materials with the Category Leader for structured negotiations following the Global Sourcing and Procurement Category Management and Strategic Sourcing methodologies
Support the Category Leader in starting/running program level initiatives that can create benefits such as improving an existing process, execute actions to increase diversity, etc
Support populating category cards detailing overall category strategies, preferred suppliers, and business unit requirements for execution; ensure category health is tracking per strategy/goals/plan
Support the development of 'should cost' and 'total cost of ownership models' for the category; support the strategies & targets set by the Category Management Leader and the Head of Indirect Sourcing
When appropriate, build strong partnerships with key budget owners, functional stakeholders, and strategic suppliers
Be part of multiple cross-functional teams to ensure delivery of values across the procurement process, contribute to the compliance tracking of category specific policies and performance metrics, and support the translation of rapidly evolving category market trends and leading practices into opportunities for News Corp
Maintain strong relationships with internal business partners through regular and consistent communication; building a robust understanding of the strategic business direction, requirements and priorities across assigned suppliers and/or spend categories
Support the development and implementation of global sourcing strategies to deliver against business objectives for internal clients
Support and/or directly evaluate suppliers core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models and benchmarking analysis; leveraging key-insights to inform and support the category strategy development process
Apply the fundamentals of sourcing and supplier engagement activities including RFx, spend pattern analysis, contract analysis, bid evaluation, negotiations, and supplier consolidation by working with Execution team members
Under the category leadership, collaborate with business and finance leaders to identify and drive savings and controllership improvements, focusing on total cost of ownership
Maintain procurement ethics in accordance with News Corp’s global policies & methodologies
Support preparing for and holding business reviews with stakeholders to review vendor performance, future opportunities, and/or challenges
Under the category lead’s direction, work with cross-functional internal customers as well as the Business Sourcing Partner to capture detailed business requirements with designated business units, prioritizing business requirements and taking them through approval process; Participate in standardized relationship management processes globally for designated business area(s)
Support maintenance of the contracting database and feeds to the Supplier Relationship Management system
Support or directly negotiate new and renewal contracts with selected suppliers leveraging tools/technology or supplier contract template including, but not limited to Software as a Service, comprehensive Master Services Agreements, Master License and Service Agreement, Statement of Work, Amendments, etc. and negotiation of global preferred supplier agreements, following the legal guidelines
Support/coordinate the execution of the SOWs of complex and strategic nature through creation to approval
Identify escalations for the Information Security and legal/privacy department accordingly
Maintain up-to-date repository of contracts and status of projects in respective systems

Required

Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree or equivalent experience required
Minimum 3 years of strategic sourcing and/or equivalent experience required
Experience working in a large, global, highly matrixed organization, and works easily in multi-business unit project settings; able to facilitate teamwork across corporate boundaries
Embraces critical thinking and applies fact‐based decision making; naturally seeks to leverage and/or integrate market data, spend analytics, and cost modeling
Proven written and oral communicator, with strategic, analytical, and interpersonal skills to act as an effective change agent, unlocking barriers to value for priority spend categories
Competent negotiator with proven experience in setting negotiation strategies and conducting negotiations
Strong project management skills, including adhering to stakeholder timelines, and meeting management skills
Fundamental understanding of, and experience with, multi-step strategic sourcing processes and category management strategies
Experienced at identifying and assessing risk and concisely explaining complex issues to principal business owners
Extremely customer-focused, taking the time to understand the needs of the business
Basic knowledge of the standard types of commercial agreement structures and the function and purpose of key legal terms. Understanding of legal terms and implications; ability to redline contracts aligned with legal guidelines
Ability to accomplish results through others, particularly by establishing relationships, effective controls and monitoring processes
Proficient in using eSourcing tools including eRFx, reverse auctions, project management tools, and contract management tools Ariba or similar (sourcing and contracting), ServiceNow, Oracle, SAP, etc
Ability to travel (up to 10%) – facility site visits and internal/external meetings as required
