Post Doctoral Research Associate
Brookhaven National Laboratory is a multidisciplinary laboratory dedicated to discovery science and transformative technology. The Collider-Accelerator Department is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to the spin transport of polarized helions in the Booster Synchrotron and AGS, supporting future Electron Ion Collider experiments.

Responsibilities
Learn to operate the Booster and AGS to perform beam studies with polarized helium-3
Perform supporting simulations in Booster and AGS
Perform simulations of polarization transport in the EIC’s Hadron Storage Ring
Qualification
Required
PhD in Physics or related discipline with a focus on electromagnetism
Strong background in accelerator physics or spin dynamics
Proficient in numerical simulations
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative research environment
Required to work odd hours for studies when polarized helion beams are available at the Booster and AGS
Preferred
Experience operating a particle accelerator
Functional knowledge of particle tracking code that is suitable for tracking spin such as Zgoubi, Xsuite, BMAD
Working knowledge of a scripting language, such as python
