Responsibilities
Performs supervisory function for the Water Reclamation Maintenance Group of the Environmental Services Department including providing leadership and guidance to staff, preparing evaluations, coaching, counseling, handling disciplinary matters and preparing payroll
Maintains current knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and ensures the safety of staff by instructing on safe work practices and enforcing safety regulations; exercises independent good judgment in handling routine and emergency situations
Prioritizes work orders; assigns and directs repairs at sewer lift stations, sewer equalization basins, sewer force mains, water booster stations, water storage tanks, wells, water reclamation plants and other water & sewer assets as needed
Develops and promotes positive work culture, teamwork and skill development
Directs, maintains, and schedules the repair of mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment for water and sewer assets
Evaluates repair verses replace issues and develops processes and policies to improve utility efficiency
Procures supplies/equipment, processes invoices, prepares and monitors budgets
Performs these duties in coordination with operational needs, priorities and regulatory requirements of the department
Ensure that work conforms with applicable building and environmental codes (e.g. NEC, NFPA)
Uses computer-based systems (e.g. maintenance management, Geographic Information System, Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition, time keeping, budget, and Microsoft Office suite) to document, analyze and plan work
Maintains paper and electronic records of inventory, prepares reports (e.g. job and life cycle costs, assets condition, work completed, inventory status and staffing resources) as needed
Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations when performing permit compliance activities
Participates in capital improvement project planning, design, review and construction
Develops, reviews and modifies plans, specifications and submittals
Coordinates the work of outside contractors and consultants
Maintains current knowledge of necessary environmental regulations including: NPDES permits, wastewater, bio-solids, storm water, underground storage tanks, bulk chemicals, and wells
Perform tasks of the functional area(s) supervised
Qualification
Required
Completion of undergraduate major program course work in electrical or mechanical engineering or technology and four (4) years of experience in electrical or mechanical maintenance repair
Completion of associate degree core course work in electrical or mechanical technology and seven (7) years of experience in electrical or mechanical maintenance repair
Must maintain a current, valid Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Must obtain & maintain an Ohio EPA Class I Wastewater Works Operator license within two (2) years of hire
Must obtain & maintain an Ohio EPA Class I Water Distribution within five (5) years of hire date
