Responsibilities

Write, refactor, and performance-tune complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views

Analyze execution plans, add appropriate indexing, and resolve bottlenecks in high-volume environments

Implement best practices for error handling, transactions, and query reusability

Provision, configure, and maintain Amazon RDS instances (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL)

Manage backups, restores, replication, Multi-AZ deployments, and automated snapshots

Monitor performance using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and RDS Enhanced Monitoring

Apply security best practices: IAM roles, VPC security groups, encryption at rest/transit, and parameter groups

Design, develop, and deploy SSIS packages for ETL/ELT workflows using Visual Studio and SQL Server Data Tools

Implement data validation, error logging, restartability, and package configurations

Migrate legacy DTS/SSIS packages and optimize for performance and reliability

Schedule and monitor SSIS jobs via SQL Server Agent or AWS SSM/Airflow

Collaborate with analysts and developers to design normalized/denormalized schemas and data marts

Participate in code reviews, data architecture discussions, and sprint planning

Assist in large-scale data migrations (on-prem ? cloud, cross-database)

Build reusable ETL frameworks for recurring data loads

Support BI teams by creating staging tables, views, and report-ready datasets

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)

1–3 years of hands-on experience with T-SQL (complex joins, CTEs, window functions, dynamic SQL)

1–3 years of hands-on experience with SQL Server 2016+ (on-prem or RDS)

1–3 years of hands-on experience with AWS RDS (instance setup, scaling, backups, monitoring)

1–3 years of hands-on experience with SSIS (control flow, data flow, scripting tasks, deployments)

Solid understanding of relational database design, normalization, and indexing strategies

Experience with source control (Git preferred)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication — able to explain technical concepts clearly
