Debit Card and Mastercard Manager

The Washington Trust Company is seeking an experienced banking professional to lead their Card Operations team. The Debit Card and Mastercard Manager will manage the bank’s debit card portfolio and ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and superior customer experience.

Responsibilities

Provide oversight and management of the Card Operations group, ensuring efficient day-to-day processing, card issuance, maintenance, dispute resolution and chargeback processes
Establish operational standards, workflows, continuous process improvement and performance goals for the team
Ensure key SOX controls are identified, documented and followed by the team
Develop and execute strategies for debit card and Mastercard programs aligned with the bank’s growth objectives in partnership with various business areas
Proactively monitor and analyze card performance, usage trends, and profitability to optimize product offerings, using root cause analysis
Routinely analyzing and sharing data, trends, and suggested solutions with key stakeholders including Marketing and Retail Banking
Manage all aspects of MasterCard Principal relationship, ensuring the bank is fully leveraging this partnership
Partner with Marketing and Retail banking to design and implement promotional campaigns, educational materials, and community outreach initiatives that drive card adoption and usage
Participate in cross functional projects and act as business line lead in projects related to Debit Card. Actively participate in all applicable change management and governance programs
Maintain routine communication with key stakeholders to ensure alignment across business areas
Serve as the primary liaison with Mastercard and other card network partners
Manage relationships with card processors, fraud monitoring services, and fulfillment vendors
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI DSS, Reg E) and internal policies
Coordinate with the fraud prevention team to implement strategies to manage and ultimately deter fraud
Enhance cardholder experience through digital wallet integration, contactless payments, and self-service tools

Required

Experience in banking and card operations management
