Responsibilities

Direct in the planning and supervising of the maintenance of the golf course and resort grounds

Schedule work and supervises associates and the use of the equipment

Render professional advice, opinions, assistance and services to the Director of Golf and Corporate Director of Agronomy

Develop annual budgets for golf course maintenance operations and resort grounds

Handle all human resource functions of the department including interviewing applicants, payroll, training and disciplinary action

Oversees and participate in all activities undertaken by Assistant Superintendent and Resort Grounds Manager

Ensure that all aspects of golf course maintenance are operating within all federal, state and local guidelines and regulations

Develop and institute data-driven pesticide, fertilization, cultivation and irrigation programs

Develop and maintain good rapport with guests, members and neighbors to facilitate effective communication about sensitive subjects (constructions, pesticide usage, noise complaints, etc.)

Maintain open line of communication with Golf Pro Shop about relevant information

Assist with snow removal as needed

Perfom other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy is required or a related field from an accredited College or University

Five years of related experience and/or training

Must have working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, greens and bunkers; seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf; planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners; herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation systems, including wells, pumps and automatic controls

Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient utilization of equipment

Ability to prepare clear and concise reports

Maintain effective employee and public relations

Must possess a valid driver's license

Requires North Carolina pesticide applicator license or the ability to obtain one within 90 days

Must be able to stand, walk, bend for extended periods of time

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
