Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain RDBMS/NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB)
Monitor database performance and perform tuning, indexing, and query optimization
Manage backups, recovery, replication, failover, and DR setups
Ensure database security, access control, and compliance
Support release deployments and troubleshoot database issues
Automate routine DBA tasks and maintain documentation
Qualification
Required
Strong SQL skills and deep knowledge of at least one major DB platform
Experience with performance tuning, backup & recovery, and high availability
Familiarity with Linux/Windows servers and shell scripting
Experience with monitoring tools (OEM, Nagios, Grafana, etc.)
Preferred
Understanding of cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL) is a plus
Programming Skills: Python/Java, or Node.js for scripting and automation
Serverless Architecture: Designing with Lambda, API Gateway, Apache Airflow
Cost Management: Understanding pricing models (On-Demand, Reserved, Spot) and using Cost Explorer
Disaster Recovery & High Availability: Multi-AZ deployments, backups, and failover strategies
Soft Skills: Communication, stakeholder management, and documentation
Team Collaboration: Working with DevOps, security, and development teams to align cloud goals
Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional
