Associate Director, External Reporting

Codexis, a biotechnology company based in Redwood City, CA, is looking to hire an Associate Director of External Reporting. This role is responsible for leading the Company’s external financial reporting and technical accounting functions, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, and managing the preparation of SEC filings.

Responsibilities

Leading the preparation and review of quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, Proxy) and managing the submission process
Conducting technical accounting research and drafting memos on complex transactions (e.g., revenue recognition, leases, equity)
Overseeing equity-related accounting, including stock-based compensation and ESPP transactions
Collaborating with internal teams on earnings releases and Board materials
Ensuring SOX compliance for external reporting and equity processes
Supporting special projects such as ERP implementations, audit readiness, and policy updates

Required

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA required
8–10 years of relevant experience, including Big 4 public accounting and/or public company reporting
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations
Experience with Workiva, Equity Edge, Coupa and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite)
High level Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio) required
Proven ability to manage complex reporting cycles and meet tight deadlines
