Piper Companies is seeking a Jr. Network Engineer for a long term contract opportunity to join an established Healthcare Organization. The role involves assisting in the maintenance and implementation of network systems, including configuring network equipment and troubleshooting issues.

Responsibilities

Assist in configuring and maintaining network equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues to ensure minimal downtime
Perform routine network upgrades and maintenance under supervision
Support network security measures by configuring access control lists (ACLs) and managing VPNs
Assist with the documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures
Help set up and maintain wireless networks and resolve connectivity issues
Collaborate with the IT team to implement network improvements
Provide technical support for network-related issues and resolve them in a timely manner
Participate in disaster recovery planning and execute backup strategies
Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in networking

Required

Basic understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
Experience with Fluke testing tools for cable testing and network configuration
Familiarity with network hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls
Knowledge of network security concepts including VPNs, ACLs, and firewalls
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from senior engineers
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

Preferred

Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA are a plus
