PROGRAM MANAGER, ENGAGEMENT & RESEARCH
Sarcoma Foundation of America is focused on advancing the sarcoma community through patient engagement and scientific research. The Program Manager, Engagement and Research, will connect these areas to support the organization’s strategic goals and manage various initiatives related to patient education and research funding.

Responsibilities
Manage SFA’s Jordan’s Dream Fund for Clinical Trials: collect and organize applications, organize meetings with stakeholders, make recommendations for funding, communicate with grantees, and work with the communications team to grow awareness about the program
Identify and organize scientific education initiatives to align with SFA’s strategic goal of educating and empowering the sarcoma community
Identify topics that may be relevant to science education; collaborate on drafting, editing, proofing, and distributing this information through communication channels to educate and engage the sarcoma community. This includes working with the research and communications team to ensure the science/research areas of the website are updated and maintained and social media posts
Assist in managing the PUSH Consortium project, drafting agendas, scheduling meetings, organizing meeting summaries, and ensuring the SharePoint site and website are updated to advance the PUSH research projects
Recommend and draft/create patient tools and resources. Collaborate with the communications team to make them available to the community
Engage in and manage research engagement activities projects initiated and led by SFA. Answer patient questions related to treatment and sarcoma research
Collaborate with the research team on SFA’s research grant program, by assisting with the management of the grant programs. Assist with communications and relationship management with grantees through periodic surveys and other outreach
Travel to scientific meetings to stay-up-to-date on sarcoma research to understand opportunities for patient education and engagement
Assist in developing relationships with other research funders, sarcoma centers, researchers, and patients
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Experience in biomedical research, preferably in cancer
Understanding of the connection between patient advocacy, education, science, and research
Experience within a health organization focused on either research or patient advocacy and support
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with external organizations that can advance SFA's mission
Ability to understand complex science information and translate it to lay audiences
Strong relationship-building and management skills to steward and cultivate relationships with external stakeholders
Creative and resourceful problem-solving skills; innovative thinking skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to set and meet goals and deadlines. Able to manage multiple timelines and complete tasks on-time and within budget
Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in science and patient advocacy
Self-starter and entrepreneurial spirit
