Oklahoma State University is inviting candidates to apply for the Senior Lab Technologist position in the Molecular department of the Oklahoma Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory. The role involves preparing and processing clinical specimens for DNA/RNA extraction and conducting various molecular biology techniques.

Responsibilities

Prepare and process animal tissues, fluids, bacterial/fungal cultures, and other clinical specimens for DNA/RNA extraction
Conduct routine molecular biology techniques
Assist in writing and implementing new SOPs
Test validation
Maintenance of equipment
Assist in maintaining the molecular diagnostics laboratory and all storage areas in a clean and orderly state
Other duties as assigned

Required

High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Four years' related work experience. Post-secondary education in Biology or related field may be substituted for years of experience
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses: Rabies immunization is required and will be provided
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge: Basic knowledge in molecular techniques; specifically, RNA/DNA extractions, PCR analysis, molecular assay development, use of gel electrophoresis, and trouble-shooting and proficiency in general use of laboratory equipment
Excellent communication skills and organizational skills are required

Preferred

Bachelor's Biology or related field
Experience with PCR and working with nucleic acids
Previous experience working in a diagnostic research lab is preferred

Benefits
