Responsibilities

Assist in developing and training AI models for image recognition, handwriting recognition, and data extraction from digitized notebooks

Implement and optimize OCR techniques to convert handwritten text into machine-readable format

Evaluate and compare different OCR engines

Participate in the digitization process of historical research notebooks, ensuring data integrity and quality control

Assist in the organization, structuring, and cataloging of digitized data

Contribute to the development of software tools and workflows for notebook digitization and data analysis

Analyze the digitized data to identify trends, patterns, and insights relevant to chemical defense research

Program and optimize robots for sample preparation

Present your findings and contributions in reports and presentations to the research team

Required

The qualified candidate will have an Associate's, bachelor's or master's degree

Degree must have been received within five years of the appointment start date

U.S. military veterans who have been honorably discharged (or who have been medically discharged because of a service-connected disability) and who received an Associate's, bachelor's or master's degree within ten years of the desired start date are also eligible
