The primary function of this internship is to support the daily operations of the therapy and rehabilitation department, assisting with various tasks to enhance clinician time spent in direct patient care.

Responsibilities
Perform designated routine tasks that support the daily operations of the therapy and rehabilitation department
Assist with indirect patient-related activities, including helping with process improvement projects that support Joint Commission and infection prevention requirements
Monitor department supply levels
Assist Patient Access staff with scanning and routing medical record documents after patient discharge
Transport materials
Create patient education materials
Perform various administrative tasks
Clean and sterilize equipment
Perform general housekeeping duties to help maintain a clean and safe environment
Qualification
Required
Must meet one of the following requirements: current CNA EMT or Paramedic certification, or must take Parkviews Patient Care Foundations course at time of hire
2 years' experience in a healthcare-related field training time will be determined based on experience
currently enrolled in a nursing school having completed first clinical rotations if hired prior to 12/3/18
two (2) years military medical experience will be accepted
Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or obtain it within 60 days of hire
Must have good verbal and written communication skills
Must have a working knowledge of computer skills and applications
Demonstrates ability to critically think
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds
Preferred
CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification preferred or must have the equivalent of health care experience and education
two (2) years previous experience in a nursing support role
nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited program (ASN or BSN) having completed their first clinical rotation on an extended care or inpatient nursing unit (nursing school transcripts required)
Previous experience is preferred in direct patient care through work and/or school program
