Responsibilities
Responds to emergency calls, drives equipment and administers first aid, transports victims to emergency care facilities
Observes patient responses and maintains accurate and complete records
Checks and prepares equipment and supplies for treatment
Assists with the rescue of accident victims utilizing specialized equipment
Performs general maintenance work and upkeep on vehicles, apparatus, equipment, and station
Participates in continuing training and instruction program by individual study of technical material and attendance at scheduled drills and classes
Qualification
Required
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of emergency care, including diagnosis, proper treatment and automobile extraction and transportation
Knowledge of the reading of electrocardiograms
Knowledge of the principles of anatomy, physiology and chemistry in relation to the respiratory and circulatory systems
Thorough knowledge of the street system and geography of the County
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to keep simple records and prepare reports
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates and the general public
High school diploma or GED
Experience as an Emergency Medical Technician (Basic, Intermediate, Paramedic) or equivalent combination of education and experience
Must hold valid state or national certification at the level of the position
Must live within 90 miles of Dare County
