AVP - Chief Pharmacy Officer
Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is dedicated to advancing pediatric care and innovation. The AVP & Chief Pharmacy Officer will be responsible for the strategy and performance of pharmacy services, ensuring compliance and driving excellence in clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
Provide enterprise leadership for pharmacy services across inpatient, ambulatory, retail, and specialty models of care
Advance patient safety, medication outcomes, and the patient and family experience
Lead pharmacy strategy aligned with CHOP's clinical, financial, operational, and research goals
Develop and implement cost-effective medication management and safety strategies
Oversee pharmacy operations, workforce management, contracting, inventory, and supporting technology platforms
Mentor, develop, and support pharmacy leadership and workforce engagement
Drive innovation in automation, digital pharmacy, analytics, and scalable care models
Ensure compliance with DEA, FDA, Joint Commission, USP standards, and 340B requirements
Manage budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, reimbursement strategies, and financial stewardship initiatives
Collaborate with clinical, informatics, finance, supply chain, and operational leaders to improve performance and integrate pharmacy across the care continuum
Lead vendor and payer contracting strategies ensuring financial sustainability and compliance
Monitor emerging trends and benchmarking to inform strategic planning and innovation efforts
Represent pharmacy services in executive forums, system initiatives, and enterprise planning
Oversee continuity-of-care planning, business continuity, and downtime readiness
Qualification
Required
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare
Minimum of 10 years in a hospital and/or health system environment
Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements
Ability to lead large-scale transformation, change management, and process improvement initiatives
Experience with financial management, analytics, and technology optimization in pharmacy environments
Ability to prioritize, operate with agility, manage complexity, and lead in a dynamic environment
Demonstrated leadership, communication, and relationship-building across enterprise
Registered Pharmacist (RPh), Pennsylvania Licensure — Required upon hire with PA licensure obtained within 6 months of hire
Preferred
Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field
