Responsibilities

Plans, conducts and documents Flight Test activities for the Honda Jet
Actively participates in flight testing, development and certification, in a flying FTE capacity
Tracks the progress of tasks assigned to a specific aircraft and reports completion status
Reviews data from flight test
Assists Cognizant Engineer in data reduction as required
Prepares flight test plans and reports and reviews certification documents as required
Prepares flight test cards and weight-and-balance for each day's flight activities
Writes flight test requests, plans and procedures; support flight and ground testing; reduce and analyze flight test results; generate aircraft flight manual and pilot's operating handbook/manual performance data; and document all aspects of work performed
Writes test plans/requests for both flight and ground testing; reduces flight test data into non-dimensional parameters
Supports new product development and marketing requests
Provides inter-organizational, FAA/foreign certification authorization, and outside vendor/supplier communications as required

Required

Four-year Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
Between 10 to 20 years of flight test experience
Class 3 flight medical
Working knowledge of the FAA compliance process and applicable material pertaining to 14CFR Part 23 and operational rules
Ability to participate in the creation of FAA certification plans and approaches and to present and defend technical results to the appropriate regulatory representatives for findings of compliance
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels throughout and organization
Skilled at writing Flight Test Plans and Flight Test Reports with thorough understanding of test objective definitions, specification compliance, and being able to make sensible conclusions and recommendations
Thorough understanding of technical theories/concepts and experimental and theoretical principles/practices in the fields of flight testing, aerodynamics, aircraft performance and flying qualities
Working knowledge of Systems & Avionics Flight test methods and applicable FAR Regulations
Familiarity with flight tests involving the flight deck, AFCS, RVSM, FADEC, and acoustics/noise tests
Familiarity with Autopilots, ILS CAT II, EFIS, TCAS, mode S transponders, ILS, and GPS
Skilled in using and validating highly specialized and complex software systems and engineering applications
Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors
Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties
Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.)
Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties
Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions
Effectively communicate in Business English language
Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties
Pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided “reach assistance technology” or “movement assist technology” (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly's, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties

Preferred

Graduate of a recognized Test Pilot School or equivalent on the job experience
FAA DAR, Flight Analyst DER, or ODA Unit Member
Master's degree in Flight Test Engineering or a discipline within Flight Test
