Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the MS TESOL degree and the graduate and undergraduate TESOL certificates

Interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students

Demonstrate ability to foster a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment

Participate in regular performance evaluations as required by the department

Provide required materials at the time of application and before official hire

Be available on very short notice for appointments from the part-time pool

Maintain legal right to work in the United States

Comply with CSU policies regarding mandated reporting and background checks

Required

Candidates for 400- and 500-level courses must hold a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, or a related field, and possess native or near-native fluency in English

Candidates for 300-level courses must be at least a Ph.D. candidate (ABD) in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, or a related field, and possess native or near-native fluency in English

Candidates holding a terminal master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field are also welcome to apply, but will be considered for lower-division language courses (100 and 200 level) only

Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students

This position requires the legal right to work in the United States of America. California State University, Fullerton cannot sponsor part-time faculty for work visas or permanent residence

Preferred

Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching

Preference will also be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment

Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities
