AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR (Title 32)

The Department of the Air Force is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor (Title 32) to oversee maintenance operations within the IL 182 AW National Guard. Responsibilities

Plan the overall allocation of personnel, funding, and equipment resources to accomplish work operations on an annual or longer basis
Analyze work plans developed by subordinate supervisors and determine status of work accomplished in relation to future demands or emergency requirements
Assign and explain work requirements to subordinate supervisors, set deadlines, and balance workloads across work groups
Make formal appraisal of supervisors' performance, review employee appraisals, and recommend promotions or reassignments
Hear and resolve grievances, act on personnel problems referred by subordinate supervisors, and ensure corrective actions are taken
Interpret changing environmental requirements including specification changes, standard improvements, mission alignments, and equipment modernization needs
Participate with higher-level management to interpret revised work techniques, organizational changes, and maintenance requirements in support of mission execution
Prepare and/or provide inputs to operating instructions and initiate work plans required for critical or emergency maintenance projects
Evaluate potential impact of improved technologies on existing programs and recommend proposed changes to leadership
Provide technical guidance and subject-matter expertise at national-level planning conferences such as PIWG, SSR, and SSG
Plan aircraft and aircraft-system modifications, Time Change Technical Orders, facility updates, modernization efforts, and deployment/mobility requirements
Analyze production, cost, and personnel utilization records and adjust operations to correct problems and ensure economical work practices
Spot-check work operations to ensure production, quality, and safety standards are met
Use management tools and computer technologies to maintain effective control over work activities, reports, and administrative records
Implement safety regulatory requirements, ensure use of protective equipment, and verify compliance with safety procedures
Direct and coordinate daily, weekly, quarterly, and long-range maintenance operations to ensure aircraft remain in combat-ready status
Provide work direction by initiating work plans, explaining requirements, and coordinating operations with other organizations and functional areas
Determine long-range, supervisory, and technical training needs and develop resource options and methods to accomplish required training
Promote and administer programs such as cost reduction, incentive awards, suggestions, quality assurance, and housekeeping/safety initiatives
Chair production meetings to set priorities and ensure effective accomplishment of the scheduled maintenance plan

Required

Must possess specialized experience which includes experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting parts, subassemblies and components, and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification
Must possess specialized supervisory experience for the WS-10 Level, which includes experience demonstrating the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments of lower grade personnel
Experience which required the review of work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines
Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function
Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes
Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations
Must be a current member of the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement
Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
May be required to successfully complete a trial period
Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment
