We are seeking an innovative Mechanical Technician with a strong mechatronics background to join our Robotic R&D Team, where you will bridge mechanical design with electronic systems integration while driving project development from concept to completion.

Responsibilities
Develop solutions from initial conceptual direction with minimal guidance
Take on mechanical design and development of electro-mechanical systems
Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software for manufacturing and assembly
Develop Jigs and fixtures to conduct testing/validation procedures
Collaborate with electrical and software engineers on integrated solutions
Support research staff by implementing hardware changes
Will be making rapid prototyping with quick iterative cycles
Qualification
Required
BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
5+ years experience in mechanical design with focus on mechatronics
Ability to take abstract ideas and convert them into practical engineering solutions
Proficiency in 3D CAD software with SolidWorks
Experience with actuators, sensors, and control systems
Ability to work in a rapid R&D environment
Will need to be in the San Francisco office 5 days a week
Experience in wire / cable manufacturing
A understanding of some common coding languages like C++ and python
Able to work with high autonomy
Must be able to install, maintain, and troubleshoot various actuators and sensors in robotic systems
Preferred
Experience with 3d printing prototyping
Experience with Machine shop and safety practices
Knowledge of industrial automation and robotics
Familiarity with PLCs and microcontrollers
Familiarity with GD&T
Experience understanding and making electrical diagrams
Soldering skill
