Clinical Laboratory Scientist Per Diem Night Shift
Memorial Hospital of Gardena is committed to providing quality patient care and is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. The role involves performing complex laboratory tests across various disciplines while ensuring compliance with quality control standards and contributing to departmental operations.

Responsibilities
Follows the hospital’s policies and procedures and documents their review
Ensure all daily Quality controls (QC) (or as required, Levy-Jennings and Westgard Rules) is acceptable before releasing patient results
Performs and documents all maintenance, temperatures, specimen rejection and troubleshooting, conforms to schedules and completion of work, leaves little for the next shift
Maintains the inventory of supplies and reagents
Participates in the laboratories in-service and competency assessment programs
Help train and orient new team members
Conforms to schedules and completion of work, leaves little for the next shift
Performs other duties assigned by the lead CLS/lab manager/supervisor/lab administrative director
Participates in the laboratories in-service and competency assessment programs
Uses clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, all customers internal and external
Uses AIDET in interactions with patients and family members
Acts with a sense of urgency when performing tasks
Basic unit/department maintenance such as keeping files, drawers, cabinets free from unnecessary clutter
Reports on any equipment and or environmental issues for repair
Abides by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations
Speaks up to stop the line and escalates potential safety events if necessary
Completes and attends monthly training assigned
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Professional application of the principles, theories, techniques, and quality controls of laboratory science is used
Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications
Behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health
Upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication

Attends staff meetings; follows HIPAA guidelines; follows patient rights policy; complies with the compliance program; demonstrates knowledge of role in a disaster; demonstrates knowledge of fire and fire drill procedures; working knowledge of hospital emergency codes; always utilizes standard precautions in the clinical setting; safely manages the environment of care by demonstrating a working knowledge of the requirements of the: Life Safety program, Utilities Management program, Hazardous Materials program, Emergency Preparedness program, Safety Management program, Medical Equipment Management program, Security Management program
Preferred
A minimum of six (6) months' experience in an accredited hospital laboratory in at least two (2) laboratory sections preferred
Licensed as a MT (Medical Technologist), or MLS (Medical Laboratory Scientist), CLT (Clinical Laboratory Technician)
ASCP, NCA (merged with ACP) and AMT certifications for work in a clinical laboratory setting that does not require state licensure outside of California
Military Facility with proof of military clinical experience
Medical Facilities outside the United States and territories that are CAP (College of American Pathologist) and The Joint Commission accredited are acceptable
Falls within the CMS interpretive guidelines for education requirements
All foreign degrees must be accompanied by a confirmation letter certifying that your education is US equivalent
